💡Winter flights ⚠️🌡️❄️
🦌Do not disturb #wildlife, especially in winter when food is scarce and the cold puts excessive stress on the animals!
Flying a #drone in #winter requires special care and preparation. An important issue is the #icing of the #propellers.
The risk of icing is particularly high in high humidity and low temperatures around and below freezing. Water droplets in the air can be liquid despite the low temperature, but freeze immediately upon impact with the cold propellers.
More ice quickly forms, the aerodynamics of the propeller changes, and lift decreases. In the worst case, this can lead to the loss of the drone. So be careful when flying in low temperatures, avoid risks, and build in extra reserves.
⚠️ Also important
Hands and feet, in particular, cool down quickly. Protect yourself well from hypothermia. 🫖🧤
Cold batteries have a lower capacity and wear out faster. Be sure to preheat them and plan for shorter flight times.
🏠 Moisture condenses on cold devices in warm environments. Warm up devices slowly (in a closed case) and then let them dry thoroughly.
