Area of application: Agriculture
Drones in agriculture
Plant protection and pasture management: where drones and thermal imaging help in agriculture and where their limitations lie.
There's a separate page for forestry: Drones in Forestry.
Applications
-
Fawn rescue and wildlife protection
Searching meadows in the early morning, marking fawns and flying on – the helpers track the finds in parallel with the POIApp.
Fawn rescue -
Wildlife damage assessment
Damage to agricultural land often leads to conflicts between land users. Drone surveying can provide factual information to help resolve such conflicts fairly.

Sowing and fertilization
Seed and fertilizer drones for the field
Seed and fertilizer drones carry seeds or fertilizer in a tank and apply it to the field from the air. Whether and where this is worthwhile for your farm depends on the size of the field, the crop, and the specific task.
We and our partners can advise you on the right drone and help you plan your operations.
Multispectral analysis
Multispectral analysis: Assessing populations from the air
A multispectral camera captures light that your eye cannot see. Plants reflect this light differently depending on their condition, so differences in the vegetation often become apparent even before they are visible in the color image.
You can analyze the images from the flight in the POICloud; automatic analysis is planned. The Bark Beetle Drone demonstrates how to use multispectral images in the forest.
These are indications, not a diagnosis: You need to investigate the underlying cause in the field.
Research projects
Research: Fertilization as needed
In the NAIFM research project, we are collaborating with Stralsund University of Applied Sciences, the WiR! alliance, and other partners on a fertilization method that delivers fertilizer only where the plants need it. To achieve this, we are capturing color, multispectral, and thermal images of the plants in the field. The example used is nitrogen in winter rapeseed.
You can find more projects under Research Projects.
