Areas of application

The perfect Matrice 4 for your needs

  • Fawn rescue

Locate fawns using thermal imaging before mowing and relay their locations to ground crews in real time. For mobile operations on changing meadows, we recommend the Matrice 4T or 4TD.

    Fawn rescue using a drone
  • Breeding bird and species protection

Locate the nests of meadow-nesting birds with minimal disturbance, measure their positions, and locate them again on the ground with the team.

    Bird breeding protection using drones
  • Fire brigade and disaster relief

Search for missing persons, locate hotspots, and provide live video feeds to the command center and control center.

Drones for fire departments and emergency services
  • Photovoltaics and inspection

Find hotspots, defective bypass diodes and contamination in the thermal image, each finding with coordinates.

PV inspection with a thermal imaging drone
  • forestry

Detect damage in the stock early, mark conspicuous trees and navigate to them using the POIApp.

    Drones in forestry
  • Surveying and mapping

Create orthophotos, surface models, and point clouds and transfer them to GIS or CAD. The Matrice 4E, with its 4/3-inch wide-angle camera, is designed for this purpose; the 4D has the same camera.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions about the DJI Matrice 4 Series

Is there a DJI Mavic 4T?

No. There is no Mavic 4T. People searching for that usually mean the DJI Matrice 4T, the successor to the DJI Mavic 3T. Like the Mavic 3T, it has thermal imaging, but it's a drone in the Matrice series.

Matrice 4T or 4TD: which one is right for me?

The Matrice 4T is sufficient for most mobile applications. Choose the Matrice 4TD if you want to fly in all weather conditions or operate the drone from Dock 3.

What is the difference between the Matrice 4E and the Matrice 4T?

The Matrice 4E does not have thermal imaging. Instead, it features a wide-angle camera with a 4/3-inch sensor, 20 megapixels, and a mechanical shutter, designed for surveying and mapping. For thermal imaging searches, use the Matrice 4T or 4TD.

What is the DJI Matrice 4D?

The Matrice 4D is the variant for the Dock 3 without thermal imaging. It has the same cameras as the Matrice 4E and the same design as the Matrice 4TD: IP55 protection rating, anti-icing propellers, and a flight time of up to 54 minutes. With thermal imaging, this design is available as the Matrice 4TD.

Can I fly the Matrice 4TD without a dock?

Yes. The 4TD can also be flown manually with the DJI RC Plus 2 Enterprise; it's not docked. The same applies to the Matrice 4D.

What IP rating does the Matrice 4TD have?

The Matrice 4TD and Matrice 4D have an IP55 rating and anti-icing propellers. They operate in temperatures ranging from -20 to 50 °C. DJI does not specify an IP rating for the Matrice 4T and 4E; their operating range is -10 to 40 °C.

Which thermal imaging drone is suitable for fawn rescue?

We recommend the DJI Matrice 4T. It's compact and features a thermal image with 640 × 512 pixels and a laser rangefinder. For those who want to fly in all weather conditions, the Matrice 4TD is the right choice. Learn more at Rescuing fawns with a drone.

How much does the Matrice 4T cost?

That depends on the equipment. The sets are available as Basic, Standard and Professional; current prices can be found in the online shop.
