Found Is Not Yet Rescued: Confirming Finds, Securing Fawns and Finding Them Again

A fawn is only rescued once it is secured and the find is confirmed. This is how helpers record finds in POICloud and find secured fawns again after mowing.

Found is not yet rescued: only when the helper has reached the fawn, secured it and confirmed the find is the job done. In POICloud and the POIApp every find stays traceable with its position, type and status, and secured fawns can be found again after mowing. The whole operation from field to report is described in Organizing Fawn Rescue with POICloud.

Step 1: Walk to the find and confirm

The POIApp guides the helpers to within a metre of the fawn the drone has found. Everyone sees in real time where the others are and which finds are already being dealt with. Once the fawn is reached, the helper confirms the find. Helpers without an account of their own can confirm finds too, via a guest link with approval.

Step 2: Secure the fawn

How to secure the fawn and handle it correctly is covered in Can you touch fawns without gloves?. You log secured fawns in the app with position and duration. That way, even with lots of crates in different places, every animal is released again after mowing.

Step 3: Find secured fawns again with a QR marker

A permanent marker with a QR code leads back to the securing spot after mowing. Markers have a colour and a shape, you can also create them from a find and edit them directly in the overview. Whoever scans the QR code sees the location. If you wish, POICloud reminds you by email. The same markers suit locations such as nest boxes, measuring points or damage.

Sorting and searching finds

Every division works with its own vocabulary. For fawn rescue you define the find types yourself, such as fawn, brown hare or clutch, with order and colour. Even with hundreds of finds you can find the right one by searching name, type, field and comment. You filter by period, type and status: verified or unverified.
