According to Section 21h No. 6 of the German Air Traffic Regulations (LuftVO), flights in nature reserves, national parks, sites of Community importance, and European bird protection areas require the approval of the responsible nature conservation authority.

As part of our wildlife rescue efforts, we would like to use a thermal imaging drone to search for animals such as fawns, ground-nesting birds, and hares in your area of responsibility during April, May, June, and possibly July 2022, in order to save them from certain death by mowing vehicles.

Since it is usually not possible to obtain approval for individual areas due to the short notice of requests, I request your permission for drone flights over agricultural land in the aforementioned areas immediately (up to 24 hours) before mowing in your area of responsibility. The flights will take place at an altitude between 40 and 80 meters. Deviations from this altitude will only occur in exceptional circumstances.

Since it is usually not possible to obtain approval for individual areas due to the short notice of requests, I request your permission for drone flights over agricultural land in the aforementioned areas immediately (up to 24 hours) before mowing. The protection of animals affected by the flights is a high priority for us, and we carry out the flights and incursions in a way that minimizes the impact on the animals.

We also request permission to enter these areas.

Furthermore, we request permission to remove the affected animals (in consultation with the person authorized to hunt) from the danger zone and, if necessary, to confine them for the duration of the mowing.
