Analysis Software for Enhanced Performance and Efficiency
POIStudio analyzes radiometric thermal imaging data* from various drone models and exports the coordinates of discovery locations to the POICloud. This specialized software enables efficient and safe work using the georeferencing and image optimization procedures developed at the German Aerospace Center. This allows for up to 5 times higher area coverage and reliable searching even during the day.

The Tool for Wildlife Rescue
POIStudio is the software for the georeferencing method developed by Dr. Martin Isarel at the German Aerospace Center specifically for fawn rescue. The DLR spin-off thermal DRONES, together with Martin, further developed this application for the evaluation of search flights on the computer and made it usable for end-users. POIStudio enables the evaluation of thermal images and the georeferencing of discovery locations. Thanks to image optimization, this is possible at maximum speed in the morning and even during the day in sunshine. In the future, automatic detection with the already integrated Artificial Intelligence will become even better and enable fully automatic searching. The coordinates of the discovery locations can be transferred directly to a GPS device via a direct connection, or via the POICloud directly to the POIApp on a smartphone, and via POIConnect directly to the remote control.
With POIStudio, the successful search for wildlife in fields and meadows is achieved with unprecedented efficiency. The tool is also ideal for research in the field of thermal imaging drones and wildlife; several scientific publications already exist.

Advantages
With the conventional “LiveView” method, the live image of the thermal camera is observed. As soon as a warm spot appears, the ground crew is sent to the location where the drone is currently hovering. Using the live image monitor, the ground crew can easily find the fawn. However, the drone has a limited flight time. Whenever the drone has to wait for the ground crew, valuable flight time is lost that could otherwise be used for searching the area.
With our “Georeferencing” method, the drone never has to stop. The entire area is photographed every second and evaluated afterwards. This allows a suitable drone to scan one hectare per minute.
